the Druids

Ritual & Celebration of the 8-Fold Year

A Spirituality based upon Inspired Practical Living & Conduct

Eight times a year the sun moves through a seasonal change marked by its position in the heavens. Whatever your other beliefs and personal spiritual path, a druid marks the passing of the seasons with celebration of the solstice and alban. You may mark and celebrate in a private way or in community, but the celebration must take place beneath the open sky, preferably out in nature, surrounded by trees. Choose some form of centering meditation and open yourself to life. Create a theme for each fold of the year. Celebrate with poetry, music, song, dance, or any bardic skill. Place yourself in the moment. You may be drawn to think of the past, so praise the earth, your ancestors, and those whose lives have led you to this moment, but do not dwell. You may think of the future, with hope or with trepidation. But do not dwell. Return to the moment. Feel the earth beneath you, the heavens above, and the swirl of life, and rejoice.
